Prologue
Genesis 3:21-24 NIV
The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and A FLAMING SWORD flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

Ezekiel 11:7-12 NIV
“Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: The bodies you have thrown there are the meat and this city is the pot, but I will drive you out of it. YOU FEAR THE SWORD, AND THE SWORD IS WHAT I WILL BRING AGAINST YOU, declares the Sovereign Lord. I will drive you out of the city and deliver you into the hands of foreigners and inflict punishment on you. You will fall by the sword, and I will execute judgment on you at the borders of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord. This city will not be a pot for you, nor will you be the meat in it; I will execute judgment on you at the borders of Israel. And you will know that I am the Lord, for you have not followed my decrees or kept my laws but have conformed to the standards of the nations around you.

Matthew 10:9-15 NIV
“Do not get any gold or silver or copper to take with you in your belts— no bag for the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff, for the worker is worth his keep. Whatever town or village you enter, search there for some worthy person and stay at their house until you leave. As you enter the home, give it your greeting. IF THE HOME (PERSON) IS DESERVING, LET YOUR PEACE REST ON IT; IF IT IS NOT, LET YOUR PEACE RETURN TO YOU. If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet. Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.Epilogue
In the old covenant as well as in the new the LORD'S WORD IS AUTHORITY. Through his disciples He sent word to every person who cares to listen.
