Prologue
Most people would rather hear only pleasant things than the truth. Because of this natural need preachers see the opportunity to deceive. They only preach of the love, faithfulness and the numerous blessings that God gives to his children. And preaching of the covenant is laid aside.
False Believers Wants to Hear
Only Pleasant Things and
Prophecy Illusions
Isaiah 30:8-14 NIV
Go now, write it on a tablet for them, inscribe it on a scroll,
that for the days to come
it may be an everlasting witness.
For these are rebellious people, deceitful children,
children unwilling to listen to the Lord’s instruction.
THEY SAY TO THE SEERS (PREACHERS)
“SEE NO MORE VISIONS”
AND TO THE PROPHETS, "GIVE US NO MORE VISIONS OF WHAT IS RIGHT!
TELL US PLEASANT THINGS, PROPHESY ILLUSIONS.
LEAVE THIS WAY, GET OFF THIS PATH,
and STOP CONFRONTING US WITH THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL."
Therefore this is what the Holy One of Israel says:
“Because you have rejected this message,
relied on oppression
and depended on deceit,
this sin will become for you
like a high wall, cracked and bulging,
that collapses suddenly, in an instant.
It will break in pieces like pottery,
shattered so mercilessly
that among its pieces not a fragment will be found
for taking coals from a hearth
or scooping water out of a cistern.”
The Israelites Refused to Hear
The Truth and Killed Stephen
Acts 7:54-60 NIV
When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him. But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”At this THEY COVERED THEIR EARS and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul.
While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he had said this, he fell asleep.
